Geo-Targeting by Country

Target & Routing

Geo-targeting allows you to route traffic to different destinations based on visitor location.

How Geo-Targeting Works

ClickerVolt detects each visitor country from their IP address and routes them according to your geo-targeting rules.

Two Levels of Geo-Filtering

Link-Level Geo Filter

Applied to the entire link. Only visitors from selected countries can access the link. Visitors from non-selected countries are redirected to your fallback URL if configured, otherwise they see a 404 "Link not found" error.

Target-Level Geo Filter

Applied to individual targets within the same link. Target-level filters must be a subset of the link-level filters.

Example: If your link allows US and Canada, a target can filter for US only, Canada only, or both - but not France, since French visitors are already filtered at the link level.

  1. Open the link edit form

  2. Find the "Geo Filter" section

  3. Select countries to allow

  4. Save the link

Visitors from non-selected countries will be redirected to your fallback URL if configured. If no fallback URL is set, they will see a 404 "Link not found" error.

Setting Up Target-Level Geo Filtering

  1. Edit a target within your link

  2. Find the "Geo Filter" section

  3. Select countries for this target

  4. Save the target

ClickerVolt will only consider this target for visitors from the selected countries.

Common Geo-Targeting Patterns

Country-Specific Offers

  • Target A: US-only offer (geo-filter: United States)

  • Target B: UK-only offer (geo-filter: United Kingdom)

  • Target C: International offer (no geo-filter)

Regional Pricing

  • Target A: Premium pricing (US, UK, Canada, Australia)

  • Target B: Standard pricing (Europe)

  • Target C: Economy pricing (Rest of world)

Language-Specific Pages

  • Target A: English page (US, UK, Canada, Australia)

  • Target B: Spanish page (Spain, Mexico, Argentina)

  • Target C: French page (France, Canada)

Best Practices

Always Set a Fallback

Configure a fallback URL for visitors from countries not covered by your geo-filters.

Test Your Geo-Filters

Use a VPN or proxy to test that visitors from different countries see the correct targets.

Don't Over-Segment

Too many country-specific targets can fragment your traffic and make analysis harder. Group similar countries when possible.

Advanced Topics

Geo-Targeting and Rotation Algorithms

Geo-filtering happens before rotation algorithms. Only eligible targets (matching visitor country) enter the rotation.

Country Detection Accuracy

ClickerVolt uses IP geolocation databases for country detection. Accuracy is typically 95-99% at the country level.

VPN and Proxy Users

Visitors using VPNs or proxies will be detected based on their VPN/proxy location, not their actual location. This is unavoidable with IP-based geo-targeting.
