Setting Up Auto-Reload

Billing & Credits

Auto-reload automatically purchases dollar credits when your balance drops below a specified threshold, ensuring your tracking never stops due to insufficient funds. This hands-off approach is ideal for busy marketers running continuous campaigns who want predictable, automated billing.

How Auto-Reload Works

  1. You set a minimum dollar threshold (e.g., $5 or $10)

  2. You choose a reload amount in dollars (e.g., purchase $15 or $20)

  3. When your balance drops below the threshold, ClickerVolt automatically charges your saved payment method via Stripe

  4. Dollar credits are added instantly to your account balance

  5. You receive an email confirmation with receipt from both Stripe and ClickerVolt

  6. No tracking interruption - auto-reload happens before you run out

Configuring Auto-Reload

Step 1: Access Auto-Reload Settings

  1. Go to the Billing section

  2. Find the "Auto-Reload" card

  3. Click "Enable Auto-Reload" or "Configure"

Step 2: Set Threshold

Choose the dollar amount that triggers auto-reload. Set this based on your typical usage to ensure you never run out. Recommended thresholds:

  • Low traffic (< 10k events/month): $5-$10 threshold

  • Medium traffic (10k-50k events/month): $10-$15 threshold

  • High traffic (> 50k events/month): $20-$30 threshold

Rule of thumb: Set your threshold to at least 2-3 days worth of typical spending. For example, if you spend about $10 per week, set threshold to $5 (half a week's buffer).

Step 3: Set Reload Amount

Choose how many dollars to purchase each time auto-reload triggers. Available amounts: $10 (minimum), $15 (default), $20, $50, $100, or custom amount. Choose an amount large enough to last at least one week at your typical usage rate.

Reload Amount Guidelines:

  • Low traffic: $15-$20 (1-2 weeks coverage)

  • Medium traffic: $20-$50 (1-2 weeks coverage)

  • High traffic: $50-$100+ (1-2 weeks coverage)

  • Balance frequency vs size: Smaller amounts = more frequent charges, larger amounts = fewer transactions

Step 4: Add Payment Method

If you haven't already, add a payment method to your account. Auto-reload requires a saved card or payment method for automatic charges.

Step 5: Enable and Confirm

Toggle auto-reload on and confirm your settings. You'll see a summary showing your threshold and reload amount.

Managing Auto-Reload

Disabling Auto-Reload

Toggle auto-reload off at any time from the Billing section. Disabling does not affect your current credit balance or any pending purchases.

Changing Settings

Modify your threshold or reload amount anytime. Changes take effect immediately and apply to the next auto-reload event.

Updating Payment Method

If your card expires or you want to change payment methods, update in the Payment Methods section. Auto-reload uses the default payment method on file.

Auto-Reload Notifications

You'll receive emails for:

  • Successful auto-reload purchases (with receipt)

  • Failed auto-reload attempts (payment declined)

  • Auto-reload disabled due to repeated failures

Advanced Topics

Failed Auto-Reload

If auto-reload fails (card declined, insufficient funds, expired card), you'll receive an email alert immediately. Auto-reload is temporarily disabled after 2 consecutive failures to prevent repeated unsuccessful charge attempts. Update your payment method and manually re-enable auto-reload from the Billing section.

Rate Limiting Protection

If traffic spikes suddenly and triggers multiple auto-reloads in a short period, ClickerVolt limits reloads to once per hour to prevent excessive charges and protect against runaway costs. If you frequently hit this limit, consider increasing your reload amount or threshold to better match your traffic patterns.

Auto-Reload and Spending Control

To control maximum spending, set a reload amount that fits your budget. Auto-reload only purchases the configured dollar amount - it never increases automatically based on traffic volume or tier pricing. You maintain complete control over maximum spending per reload trigger.

Example: If you set reload amount to $20, auto-reload will never charge more than $20 per trigger, regardless of how much traffic you receive. For strict budget control, use a lower reload amount (e.g., $15) and expect more frequent reloads.

Tax and Invoice Handling

Auto-reload purchases are processed through Stripe with the same tax calculations as manual purchases. Applicable sales tax or VAT is added based on your billing address. Every auto-reload generates a Stripe invoice available in your Transaction History, suitable for accounting, expense reports, and tax filing.

Disabling Auto-Reload

Disable auto-reload anytime from the Billing section by toggling it off. Disabling auto-reload does not affect your current credit balance. You can re-enable it later with the same or different settings. If you remove your payment method, auto-reload is automatically disabled.

Threshold Crossing Detection

Auto-reload triggers when your balance crosses BELOW the threshold after a pack purchase. For example, if your threshold is $10 and you have $11 in balance, purchasing a $1.70 pack drops you to $9.30, triggering auto-reload. The system checks after each pack deduction, ensuring you never run out mid-usage.
