Understanding the Credits System
ClickerVolt uses a flexible, usage-based pricing system with tiered volume discounts. The first 500 events each month are completely free, and beyond that, you purchase dollar credits that are consumed automatically as you use events in packs of 1,000.
How the Credit System Works
Events, Not Clicks
ClickerVolt tracks "events" which include both clicks on your tracking links and conversions. Each click counts as 1 event. Each conversion also counts as 1 event. So if a visitor clicks your link and converts, that's 2 events total.
Free Tier: 500 Events Per Month
Every billing cycle (month) starts with 500 completely FREE events. No credit card required. This free tier resets at the start of each billing cycle, so you always get your 500 free events every month.
Events 1-500: Completely free, no charge
Includes clicks AND conversions
Resets monthly at billing cycle start
Full feature access during free tier
No credit card required to use free tier
Example: If you have 450 events in a month, you pay $0. If you have 1,200 events, only 700 are paid events (1,200 - 500 free = 700 paid).
Credits Are Dollars
After using your 500 free events, the system charges dollar credits from your account balance. Credits are measured in DOLLARS (e.g., $10, $25, $50), not event counts. You purchase credits through Stripe, and those dollar credits sit in your account balance until consumed.
Pack-Based Consumption
Events beyond the free tier are charged in packs of 1,000 events. Every time you cross into a new pack boundary, the system automatically deducts the pack cost from your dollar credit balance. Pack costs decrease as you use more events (volume discounts).
Tiered Pricing Structure
Pack costs decrease based on your total usage within the billing cycle:

Total cost for Tier 1: $17.00 (10 packs)
Tier 2: Packs 11-50 ($0.40 per pack)

Cost: $0.40 per 1,000 events
Saves 76% compared to Tier 1

Credit Types
Paid Credits
Credits purchased through Stripe using your credit card or payment method. Minimum purchase is $10 (default $15 for better fee efficiency). Paid credits expire after 12 months from purchase date if unused.
Promotional Credits
Dollar credits granted by admin for promotions, referral bonuses, or service credits. These credits expire at the end of your current billing cycle. The system uses promotional credits first before consuming paid credits.
Credit Balance and Monitoring
Your current credit balance is displayed in the billing section and top navigation. The system sends email alerts when your balance runs low:
Warning when balance drops below configured threshold
Urgent alert when balance is critically low
Optional auto-reload to automatically purchase credits
What Happens When Credits Run Out
When your credit balance reaches zero and you attempt to cross a pack boundary, the pack purchase will fail and your tracking links will stop working completely. Visitors clicking your links will not be tracked, and you will lose traffic data during this period. Purchase more credits immediately to restore service.
Auto-reload (if configured) automatically purchases credits when your balance drops below a threshold, preventing service interruptions and ensuring your links never stop working.
Advanced Topics
Billing Cycle and Tier Resets
Your tier progress and free event counter reset at the start of each billing cycle. Billing cycles are based on your signup date, not calendar months. For example, if you signed up on June 11th, your billing cycle runs June 11 - July 11, then resets on July 11. If you use 100,000 events in your first cycle (reaching Tier 4), you start your next cycle fresh with 500 free events and restart at Tier 1 pricing for paid events.
Credit Consumption Timing
Credits are deducted ONLY when you cross pack boundaries (every 1,000 paid events). For example, after using your 500 free events, you consume events 501-1,500 with no charge. At event 1,501, you cross into Pack 2, and $1.70 is deducted from your balance for Pack 2 (events 1,501-2,500).
Credit Expiration
Paid credits expire 12 months after purchase if unused. Promotional credits expire at the end of the current billing cycle. The system uses promotional credits first (FIFO - First In, First Out), so your paid credits are preserved longer.
Minimum Purchase Amount
The minimum credit purchase is $10, with a $15 default recommended for most users. This provides a good balance between keeping a low barrier to entry and reducing transaction frequency for better user experience.
