URL Builder
The URL Builder helps you generate tracking URLs for your campaigns. It has two tabs:
Incoming Traffic to Your Links — Generate tracking URLs for ad campaigns and traffic sources (redirect or direct links).
Outgoing Traffic from Your Pages — Set up outbound link tracking from your landing pages (affiliate programs, postback/IPN URLs, click events).
Incoming Traffic to Your Links
Use this tab to generate tracking URLs for your ad campaigns. Select your traffic source, choose between redirect links or direct links, configure parameters, and copy the generated URL.
Traffic Source
Select your traffic source using the chip buttons. This automatically determines which link modes are available, pre-fills tracking parameters, and selects the appropriate cost tracking option.
Custom: Both redirect and direct modes available
Google Ads: Direct links only, auto-fills ValueTrack macros, auto-selects Google cost tracking
Facebook Ads: Direct links only, auto-fills Facebook dynamic parameters
TrafficZest: Both modes available, auto-selects TrafficZest cost tracking
More: Click to access TikTok, Microsoft, and other platforms
Link Mode
Choose between two modes using the card buttons. A checkmark indicates the selected mode. Click "Why choose this?" to see detailed pros and cons.
Redirect Link
Traffic goes through your ClickerVolt tracking domain first, then redirects to your target. This card shows "N/A" and is disabled when your selected traffic source doesn't allow redirects.
Advantages:
Split test multiple target URLs with one link
Use routing algorithms (geo, device, rules)
Apply geo restriction & uniqueness logic for target selections
Change destination URL without updating campaigns
Limitations:
Not accepted by Google Ads, Facebook Ads, or TikTok Ads
Adds a small redirect delay
Direct Link
Traffic goes directly to your target URL with tracking parameters appended. ClickerVolt tracking is done via JavaScript on the landing page.
Advantages:
Accepted by all ad platforms
Faster page loads (no redirect)
Better for platforms that inspect URLs
Limitations:
Cannot split test multiple targets with one link
Cannot use routing algorithms
Requires campaign update to change destination
Parameter Style
Toggle between v1-v5 and UTM parameter naming. Parameters are displayed inline with labels on the same row as inputs.
v1-v5 Parameters (Recommended)
Uses neutral parameter names (v1, v2, v3, v4, v5) that are not recognized by ad blockers or privacy extensions.
Ad blocker resistant: Parameters are not stripped from URLs
Privacy extension safe: Tools like uBlock Origin ignore these
Consistent data collection across all browsers and devices
UTM Parameters
Uses standard UTM parameter names. A dismissible warning banner appears when selected.
Industry standard naming convention
Compatible with Google Analytics and other tools
May be blocked or stripped by ad blockers and privacy extensions
Cost Tracking
Two ways to track costs per click:
Auto Cost Tracking
When you select a traffic source, the appropriate cost tracking option is auto-selected. This enables automatic cost data collection from your ad platform.
Google Ads: Appends cvadid={creative} for ad-level cost lookup
Facebook Ads: Appends cvadid={{ad.id}} for ad-level cost lookup
TrafficZest: Appends cost={bid} for real-time CPC capture
Note: For Google and Facebook, connect your ad accounts in Settings → Integrations for cost pulling to work.
Manual Cost per Click
When Auto Cost is set to "Disabled", a Cost/Click input field appears. Enter a fixed cost value (e.g., 0.05) to append cost=0.05 to your URLs. Use this for traffic sources without auto cost support.
URL Format
In redirect mode with v1-v5 parameters, the URL Builder uses a smart path/query format:
Sequential parameters: Filled parameters appear in the URL path in order
Mixed format: If you skip a parameter, sequential ones go in the path and non-sequential ones become query params
Example: v1="google", v3="summer" (v2 empty) → /google?v3=summer
Generated URL
The URL Builder displays your generated tracking URL. In Direct Link mode:
Target selector: Choose which target URL to use (only shown if more than 1 active target)
Base URL: Your target's destination URL - use this as your Final URL
Tracking Parameters: The query string - paste into "URL parameters" field
Full URL: The complete URL combining all parts
Click the Copy button next to any field to copy it to your clipboard.
Best Practices
Use v1-v5 parameters for reliable tracking (ad blockers strip UTM)
Always include source (v1) and medium (v2) at minimum
Enable Auto Cost Tracking for automatic ROI/ROAS calculations
Use Manual Cost/Click for traffic sources without auto cost support
Test your URLs by clicking them before launching campaigns
Outgoing Traffic from Your Pages
Use this tab to track outbound clicks on your landing pages. When a visitor clicks a link on your page, ClickerVolt can inject affiliate tracking parameters, generate postback or IPN URLs, and optionally fire click events — all via the universal tracking script.
Universal Tracking Script: Must be installed on your landing page for any tracking to work.
Affiliate Program: Select your network to auto-inject click ID parameters and get the correct postback or IPN endpoint URL.
Click Event Tracking: Optionally track each outbound link click as an event (Event 1-10) in your reports.
Tip: Click the help beacon on the "Outgoing Traffic" tab for detailed documentation on each section, including affiliate program setup, postback URLs, and IPN network configuration.
