How to Create Sales Funnels with ClickerVolt Events:

Multi-step funnels allow you to track visitor journeys through multiple pages or offers in sequence. By connecting tracking links in parent-child relationships (where each child link connects TO its parent), you can measure drop-off rates, conversion at each step, and overall funnel performance.

What Are Funnels?

A funnel represents a series of steps a visitor takes from initial click to final conversion. For example:

  • Ad Click → Landing Page → Opt-in → Thank You Page

  • Ad Click → Sales Page → Order Form → Upsell → Thank You

  • Ad Click → Webinar Registration → Webinar Attendance → Purchase

Each step is a separate tracking link. By connecting these links, ClickerVolt can show you exactly how many visitors progress through each stage and where they drop off.

How to Create a Funnel

Step 1: Create Your Tracking Links

Create a separate tracking link for each step in your funnel. For example, if you have a 3-step funnel (landing → opt-in → sale), create 3 tracking links.

Step 2: Define Parent-Child Relationships

  1. Open the second link in your funnel sequence (the child link)

  2. Click the "Funnel" tab in the link editor

  3. Click the "Add Parent Link" button

  4. Use the searchable dropdown to select the previous link (the parent)

  5. Click "Connect" to establish the relationship

  6. The parent link will appear in the "Parent Link" section, and this link will appear in the parent's "Child Links" section

Important: Each link can have only ONE parent link, but a parent can have MULTIPLE child links. This creates a tree structure where traffic flows from parent to children. Repeat the connection process for each subsequent step, always connecting the child link TO its immediate parent.

Step 3: Place Links in Sequence

Use your tracking links in order through your funnel. The first link redirects to your landing page, the landing page contains the second link (to opt-in), and so on.

Example: Lead Generation Funnel

Step 1: Ad to Landing Page

Create link "landing" with target = your landing page URL. This is the parent link with no parent of its own.

Step 2: Opt-in Form Submission

Create link "optin" with target = your thank-you page. Set parent = "landing". On your landing page, the form submit button should redirect through this link.

Step 3: Product Purchase

Create link "purchase" with target = order page. Set parent = "optin". On the thank-you page, include a CTA that redirects through this link.

Funnel Connection Best Practices

  • Always connect child links TO their immediate parent - each link can have only ONE parent

  • Circular relationships are automatically prevented by the system

  • Use descriptive link names that indicate funnel position (landing, optin, purchase, etc.)

  • Test the funnel flow manually before launching campaigns by clicking through each step

  • Place your tracking links in the correct sequence - the first link redirects to your landing page, and subsequent links are embedded in each page as the visitor progresses

  • View the complete funnel tree in the Funnel Analysis tab to verify all connections are correct

Viewing Funnel Data

Once your funnel is connected, access funnel-specific reports through the link reports interface. Funnel entrance links (parent links with child links) will have a "Funnel Analysis" tab that displays:

  • Visual funnel tree showing all connected steps

  • Conversion rates at each step

  • Drop-off rates between steps

  • Click-through metrics for the entire funnel

  • Breakdown by dimensions (visitor segments, countries, devices)

Note: The main dashboard shows link-level statistics only. For funnel-specific analysis with step-by-step breakdowns, use the Funnel Analysis tab in the link reports.

Advanced Topics

Multi-Branch Funnels

You can create funnels with multiple branches where ONE parent link has MULTIPLE child links. For example, a landing page link might have two child links (one for "yes" responses, one for "no" responses), allowing you to track different paths through your funnel. Each child link can only connect to one parent, but a parent can have unlimited children, creating a tree structure with multiple branches.

Circular Relationship Prevention

The system prevents circular funnel connections (e.g., Link A → Link B → Link A). When selecting a parent link, the dropdown automatically excludes: the current link itself, the current parent (if any), and any child links. This ensures your funnel maintains a valid tree structure.

Funnel Tree Visualization

The Funnel Analysis tab displays funnels as interactive visual trees, making it easy to understand complex multi-step, multi-branch funnels at a glance. The tree view shows all paths, conversion rates between steps, and allows filtering by visitor segments, countries, and devices.

Funnel Depth Limits

There is no technical limit on funnel depth, but practical considerations suggest keeping funnels to 5-7 steps maximum. Longer funnels typically have high drop-off rates and can be difficult to optimize. The funnel tree visualization handles any depth, but deeper funnels may be harder to analyze visually.
