Viewing Usage and Transactions

Billing & Credits

Track your dollar credit purchases, consumption, and balance changes to understand spending patterns, verify charges, and manage your ClickerVolt budget effectively. The Transaction History provides a complete record of all billing activities including purchases, pack deductions, refunds, adjustments, and expirations.

Accessing Transaction History

Navigate to Billing and scroll to the "Transaction History" section. This table displays all credit purchases, consumption, and balance changes in chronological order.

Understanding Transaction Types

Purchase Transactions

Transactions marked "Purchase" show when you bought dollar credits through Stripe. Each entry includes: date/time, dollar amount purchased, payment method used (last 4 digits), Stripe Payment Intent ID, and invoice download link. Auto-reload purchases are tagged with an "auto-reload" mention to distinguish automated purchases from manual ones.

Consumption Transactions

Transactions marked "Consumption" show when credits were deducted for pack purchases. Each entry includes: date/time, pack number (e.g., Pack 15), pack cost (e.g., $0.40), events range covered (e.g., "14,501-15,500"), and remaining balance after deduction. Consumption occurs when you cross pack boundaries (every 1,000 paid events).

Free Grant Transactions

Transactions marked "Free Grant" show promotional credits awarded by admin. These might be for referral bonuses, service credits, or promotional campaigns. Free grant credits are promotional credits (expire at end of billing cycle) and are used before paid credits.

Refund Transactions

Transactions marked "Refund" show credits returned to your account. This occurs when a purchase is refunded or if there are billing corrections. Refund transactions reference the original transaction ID being refunded.

Adjustment Transactions

Transactions marked "Adjustment" show manual balance corrections made by support. These might occur if there was a billing error, technical issue, or account credit as compensation. Adjustment transactions include a description explaining the reason.

Expiration Transactions

Transactions marked "Expiration" show credits that expired unused. Promotional credits expire at the end of the billing cycle. Paid credits expire 12 months after purchase. Expiration transactions are negative amounts deducted from your balance.

Filtering and Searching Transactions

Date Range Filters

Filter transactions by date range to view specific periods. Use this to generate monthly spending reports, analyze seasonal traffic patterns, or reconcile with accounting periods. Date filters apply to the transaction creation date (when the transaction was recorded).

Transaction Type Filters

Filter by transaction type to see only purchases, only consumption, or only adjustments. Useful for accounting (view only purchases for expense reports) or usage analysis (view only consumption to track pack progression).

Credit Type Filters

Filter by credit type (free or paid) to see which type of credits are being consumed. This helps you understand if you're using promotional credits or paid credits, and track expiration timelines.

Search by Transaction ID

Search for specific transactions by ID or Stripe Payment Intent ID. Useful when reconciling with Stripe receipts, disputing charges, or tracking specific refunds/adjustments.

Reading Transaction Details

Each transaction row provides detailed information:

  • Date and time (displayed in your local timezone)

  • Transaction type (Purchase, Consumption, Refund, etc.)

  • Dollar amount (positive for credits added, negative for credits deducted)

  • Credit type affected (free or paid)

  • Balance after transaction

  • Description with context (e.g., "Pack 15 (events 14,501-15,500)")

  • Related IDs (Stripe Payment Intent ID, original transaction ID for refunds)

Usage Analytics

Pack Consumption Patterns

View your pack purchase history to identify usage patterns and predict future credit needs. Look for patterns like: consistent tier progression (Tier 1→2→3), frequent Tier 1 packs (low consistent traffic), or jumps between tiers (variable traffic). Understanding your typical tier progression helps you estimate monthly costs.

Monthly Spending Analysis

Filter transactions by date range to calculate total monthly spending. Sum all purchase transactions and subtract any refunds/adjustments to get your net monthly cost. Compare against your advertising ROI to ensure tracking costs remain reasonable (typically < 1% of ad spend).

Cost Per Event Analysis

Divide total amount spent by total events consumed to calculate your average cost per tracked event. For example: If you spent $23 on 25,000 events, your average is $0.00092 per event. This metric helps you understand your effective tracking cost and compare it to your revenue per conversion.

Tier Performance Tracking

Track which tiers you typically reach each month. If you consistently hit Tier 2-3, your per-event cost is much lower than staying in Tier 1. Use this to estimate future costs and justify higher traffic volumes (higher tiers = better value).

Advanced Topics

Credit Balance Reconciliation

Your current credit balance should equal: (All purchases + All refunds + All free grants + All adjustments) - (All consumption + All expirations). If balances don't match your transaction history, verify you're viewing the complete history with no filters applied. If discrepancies persist, contact support with your transaction IDs for investigation.

Formula:

Starting Balance + Purchases + Refunds + Free Grants + Adjustments - Consumption - Expirations = Current Balance

Understanding Credit Types in Transactions

Each transaction shows whether it affected "free" credits (promotional, expire end of cycle) or "paid" credits (purchased, expire after 12 months). The system uses promotional credits first (FIFO). This helps you understand which credit type is being consumed and track expiration timelines for unused credits.

Transaction Timestamps and Time Zones

All transaction timestamps are stored in UTC but displayed in your local time zone. When exporting data or reconciling with external systems, note that the timestamps represent the moment the transaction was recorded, which for consumption transactions is when you crossed a pack boundary.

Disputing Charges

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact support with the transaction ID. Include details about the discrepancy: expected amount vs actual amount, number of events you believe should have been charged, and any relevant screenshots. Most billing issues are resolved within 24 hours with credit adjustments if warranted.

Viewing Expired Credits

Filter transaction history by type "Expiration" to see credits that expired unused. This helps you understand if you're over-purchasing credits. If you see frequent expirations, consider reducing your auto-reload amount or purchasing smaller amounts more frequently to minimize waste.

Invoice Downloads for Purchases

Every purchase transaction (manual or auto-reload) includes a Stripe invoice. Click "Download Invoice" to get a PDF suitable for accounting, expense reports, or tax filing. Invoices include: invoice number, date, billing information, itemized breakdown, payment method, tax calculations (if applicable), and company details.
